D-HIVE is a research and development project administered by the Resiliency and Sustainable Development Center (RSDC) of the Yuchengco Innovation Center, Mapua University through the leadership of Prof. Delia B. Senoro and co-funded by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD). D-HIVE means “Development of Health Index and Vulnerability Reduction System.” This project started in the island province of Marinduque and scaled-up to capital municipalities and cities in MIMAROPA Region. This is in partnership with the selected state universities and colleges in the target areas and in close coordination with the local government units (LGUs). D-HIVE research project is composed of multi-disciplinary team members from the School of Civil, Environmental and Geological Engineering, the School of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, and the School of Information Technology, College of Allied Medicine, College of Agriculture and Fisheries, College of Education, and other relevant academic programs and research centers from various partners. The D-HIVE project produced health vulnerability indices (HVIs) at three geopolitical levels such as household (HH), barangays, city/municipality and province level. The HVIs are mapped and integrated into the emergency response system (ERS) called the eSalba system. This system is helpful to improve the HH resiliency of the communities. It is the vision of the D-HIVE team for the LGUs and communities to utilize the eSalba system all over the country, help the society improve its resiliency reduce vulnerability, improved environmental quality and reduce public health hazards.
